Saastal in the Swiss Alps

I have been climbing in the Swiss Alps for 20 years, making over 40 ascents of 4000+ m peaks, in Summer and in Winter.  Not a year without having the pleasure to spend a few days in Wallis. As I had to undergo heavy surgery at the beginning of April, I reduced my time in Saastal for a few days only this summer, and did not do any serious mountaineering or climbing. Just a few walks to progressively improve my physical condition.

But I enjoyed a few nice days walking with my little girls. Landscapes at medium altitudes can bring nice photo opportunities and other pleasures as well :)

One can find a lot of crosses in the Valley.

Some of them have a chicken on top of them, something I haven’t seen in other places

The Saas Valley wouldn’t be the same without its marmots. You can very close to them in some places

Proof with this shot (cropped), again with Q2

Beautiful images, @didier - thank you for posting them.  And you are 100% correct - the beauty of the Swiss Alps should be protected and maintained as is.  For undeniable reasons, we cannot afford to wreck this planet; besides the obvious, landscape photography on Mars would be far less appealing than here on earth.

If anyone is deliberating about buying a Q2, these images will likely help them take the plunge.  They showcase the capabilities of the Q2 and what can be accomplished with its integral 28mm Summilux lens.
