atournas Posted July 31, 2022 Share #1 Posted July 31, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Do M9 owners here use non-Leica batteries? And if so, could one advise on 1600 mAh vs. 1800 mAh? Is only for getting more shots per charge? Thanks. TomB_tx Posted July 31, 2022 Share #2 Posted July 31, 2022 Sorry - I still use the 2 original Leica batteries I got in about 2010 when the camera was new. With life like that I see no reason to try anything else. R6M6

atournas Posted August 1, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted August 1, 2022 Thanks for your response. Yes, not a good alternative, just 3 or more times cheaper. If they survive!
Ko.Fe. Posted August 19, 2022 Share #5 Posted August 19, 2022 I use Leica official battery which is made in China and two made in China ten times less expensive batteries. No problem since 2016. But one quirk. No, two. Once MiC non Leica labeled is fully charged and in camera it will give low battery warning after some exposures taken. All I have to do is to press shutter release (take exposure) and it shows true charge level after it. Second quirk, if this battery is not discharged by use in camera, Leica charger will not charge it. Based on dozens threads like this, I assume many, if not most, who declared their MiC non Leica labeled as been dead soon, just been not smart enough to figure what I did. Sorry. lenticularis

I've had a similar experience with a non-leica replacement battery. I take "with a pinch of salt" what the battery gauge on the camera shows and keep shooting till it stops after 150 or more pics (I can't remember exactly how many pics a full battery can take). It doesn't interfere with my enjoyment or use of my second hand M9
