Jimmyp82 Posted July 29, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted July 29, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Everyone, in October I will get my hands on my first ever Leica, I'm more than a little excited! I am interested in peoples ideas and opinions on what might be a good storage case for the camera and a 35mm summicron lens (kept on the camera). When in use the camera will be around my neck/on wrist, what I am looking for is something to store it in whilst I travel, so it will go inside some other rucksack etc. Something that provides security but isn't too bulky ideally. I know there are many beautiful half cases however for this use I need something practical and reliable. Thanks for reading!
Advertisement Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 Hi Jimmyp82, Take a look here Bag/Case/Protection for a Leica MP (to be stored in whilst inside some other bag/case). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 29, 2022 Share #2  Posted July 29, 2022 https://leica-camera.com/en-US/photography/accessories/cases/neoprene-case-m-long-front-section-black There is one with a long nose and one with a short nose which is probably best for a 35 mm lens.

Jeff S Posted July 29, 2022 Share #4  Posted July 29, 2022 (edited) +1  on Jaap’s suggestion. There are also bag inserts available from various companies like Billingham that are sold separately and can be used in other general carry bags. But if your outer rucksack/bag has its own padding or compartments, a separate bag shouldn’t be necessary.  The M is not a delicate machine.  Jeff Edited July 29, 2022 by Jeff S
Guest Posted July 29, 2022 Share #5  Posted July 29, 2022 I’ve got a couple of these … Not sure if you can still get them or not.
Huss Posted July 29, 2022 Share #6 Â Posted July 29, 2022 Just search for 'camera pouch' https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=camera pouch&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ps
romualdo Posted July 30, 2022 Share #7 Â Posted July 30, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use the Op-Tech pouches - made in the states, compact, sturdy & well sewn/constructed - much cheaper than the Leica ones I have three of the "rangefinder pouches" & quite a few of their lens pouches - highly recommended IMHO https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/222046-REG/OP_TECH_USA_7001224_Rangefinder_Soft_Pouch.html
grahamc Posted July 30, 2022 Share #8  Posted July 30, 2022 I’d recommend the Leica leather pouch currently offered in Leica stores and elsewhere.  Similar to Jaaps suggestion but in a soft leather.  Doesn’t have as much padding as the neoprene but I bought one and have been very happy with the protection it offers for the use you described.  also looks and feels great if you ever want to carry the camera in it across the shoulder rather than in another bag

stefanusj Posted July 31, 2022 Share #11  Posted July 31, 2022 usually i use artisan artist (acam 60) pouch, and i just create my own divider for 1 lens. or if i want to carry only the camera, sometimes i use Billingham delta pocket. Jon Warwick Posted July 31, 2022 Share #12  Posted July 31, 2022 I’ve successfully used the neoprene case as discussed by Jaap. For much more protection, however, I used the Billingham 72 when tossing the camera into a back back. https://billingham.co.uk/products/72-camera-bag_colour-black-canvas-tan-leather
Helge Posted July 31, 2022 Share #13 Â Posted July 31, 2022 I understood the OP that he is looking for something unpadded since the backpack has some padding? In that case the neoprene case is a real good protection against dust and scratches. I also use the Billingham 72 for hiking and similar activities, just a great quality with impressive protection.
Jimmyp82 Posted August 1, 2022 Author Share #14 Â Posted August 1, 2022 Thanks for all the replies, the artisan and artist one looks great but I think the smaller neoprene optech case is probably ideal!

kivis Posted August 3, 2022 Share #16 Â Posted August 3, 2022 Leica's soft leather pouch works great for my Leica M body and a 50mm or 35mm lens.
Herr Barnack Posted August 7, 2022 Share #17  Posted August 7, 2022 (edited) Quote ...what I am looking for is something to store it in whilst I travel, so it will go inside some other rucksack etc... I would recommend a Hadley Digital - https://billingham.com/products/hadley-digital-camera-bag_colour-khaki-fibrenyte-chocolate-leather Between this and your rucksack, your MP & 35 Summicron will be very well protected. I have a Hadley Digital which is my everyday carry bag for my Q2 or my M10 Monochrom, whichever I decide to carry. It is a stellar little bag. Another possibility if the Hadley Digital seems a little large would be the Billingham 72. If you want to get even smaller, the Leica leather pouch that @kivis showcases is another option. I have one of these, but always seem to gravitate to my Hadley Digital. aesop Posted August 11, 2022 Share #19 Â Posted August 11, 2022 Â Â Â Â ...just get a discreet but robust 14870. It will protect your outfit for years, doesn't scream and certainly does away with all the faff. Mine used to serve my M6 but it now works for one of my MPs.
Herr Barnack Posted November 27, 2022 Share #20  Posted November 27, 2022 (edited) I have the Leica leather pouch https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1312222-REG/leica_14893_leather_pouch_short_black.html which is an excellent way to protect your M when inside another bag or rucksack; the leather is soft and pliable with a layer of padding behind it. The Artist acam 60 pouch (above) would also be a great choice as would the Leica neoprene pouch. Edited November 27, 2022 by Herr Barnack
