Thank you very much Suuumm55. Unyil is well surrounded in the market by the sellers. She would appreciate your kind words. Regards. Carl

One of the photos which will remain in my brain

Thank you for your comment benqui. Whenever I go to the market, I take a look at Unyil, to see how she is doing. In a similar way, this woman and her « way of living» will also remain in my brain. Carl.

Superb, and pretty. much what I've come to expect of you.

Thank you for your words Stuart. I do my best to make images that hopefully will endure the test of time or have a certain character. In this case, and the woman and the lighting and the background helped me make this portrait of Unyil.

Timeless, beautiful and memorable. A truly classic image.

Thank you Brent. Seems like all came together in that instant, the background, the lighting, the personnage. Regards. Carl.

The trick in this business is to recognize these moments and use your skill to capture them. You did both here. Cheers,                          Brent

During my peregrinations in the local traditional market, I came across this woman.

This woman's name is Unyil

Little is known of her.

She resides in the market

She never leaves the building.

Unyil’s world is the market

There she eats, prays, washes and sleeps.

Thank you jaapv for your comment. It is a compliment. The lighting in the market, with its weathered walls and women wearing traditional clothing ( sarongs, batik) gives some of the photograph a certain old Dutch painterly look.
