Leica001 Posted July 6, 2022 Share #1 Posted July 6, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Found this on the Leica website yesterday showing new black chrome and titanium versions of the MP. When I read on Leica Rumors that BH were showing Black Paint models as being in stock in 2027 it all made sense. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Hi Leica001, Take a look here New Leica MP Black Chrome & Titanium Versions - Leica MP Black Paint Discontinued?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Leica001 Posted July 6, 2022 Author Share #2 Posted July 6, 2022 (edited) The new Black Chrome could be the rumoured 'cheaper' model and possibly not made of brass like the current black chrome M11. Also looking at the above image, the red dot is being reintroduced in both the new black chrome and silver chrome. What's the difference between the 'MP 0.72, silver chrom finish' and the 'MP 0.72, silver chrom finish' ? It is listed twice. Any clue?

The second being the new model which now has a red dot and M6 style winder judging by the pictures (same as the new black chrome).

ianman Posted July 6, 2022 Share #8 Posted July 6, 2022 It has to be said these B&H people are really precise as to availability dates. Usually the most accurate date sellers give is "dunno".
Anbaric Posted July 6, 2022 Share #9 Posted July 6, 2022 Where does the new, terrible, form over function website hide this stuff? Looking at https://leica-camera.com it's not immediately obvious they make film cameras at all, and when you click through to https://leica-camera.com/en-GB/photography/cameras/m and select 'Analogue M-cameras' (are they really calling them that now?), only the M-A Titan set is visible. RayD28 Posted July 6, 2022 Share #12 Posted July 6, 2022 With demand for new BP MPs being so high it's hard to imagine Leica discontinuing the model. Am I understanding this thread correctly?

The high demand and inflated prices of the M6, with Leica making nothing from them other than brand recognition has probably led to this. Leica001 Posted July 6, 2022 Author Share #17 Posted July 6, 2022 (edited) On closer inspection the images are just holding images as they are infact images of an M7. It'll be interesting to see if they are identical and if so what material they're made from Edited July 6, 2022 by Leica001 more to add

The large friendly “M7” stamped on the front being a bit of a give away You have linked to the registration page. This new(-ish) registration area is rubbish compared to the old version. You can no longer register older products, or some of them in any case. Buy a secondhand M9 and you can register it, but not an M6 for example. In the old version you could add any product. im guessing the date stated on the B&H site is just a random future date as they don’t know when they’ll be getting stock. As Ray mentioned, these things sell like hot cakes it would be really strange to discontinue them. But we have this topic pop up every couple of months.

Those images are just placeholders for cameras that were made in the past and can be registered online. I believe black chrome MPs, for example, could have been ordered in the days of the a la carte program which is probably why that configuration is showing up as a registration option. These are not new versions of the MP or M-A. Edit:. Looks like @ianmanbeat me to it. Edited July 6, 2022 by logan2z
