Wish Voigtlander had a 50mm Ultron

I'm really, really happy with my Voigtlander 28mm and 35mm Ultrons. My 50mm is a Summilux which is, of course, legendary but sometimes I want a 50mm that matches the more modern rendition of the other Voigtlanders.

I know the 50mm APO-Lanthar is supposed to be amazing but would like something more compact with a focusing tab etc.

Has there ever been a hint of something on the horizon?

The modern Ultron you need, it's called Nokton II. Super sharp, small, light and very modern

Just focus tab is missing, but I think it checks all the other boxes...

Only issue is he’s already got the Lux… a difficult trade… I tried but couldn’t make it

I also want a 50/2 from Voigtlander.

It'll probably be called Heliar though, but it would be really nice if it matches the style of the current Ultrons

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give this one a closer look.

Check it here also, from a LUF member.

https://www.47-degree.com/focus-shift/Voigtlander-Nokton-50mm-1.5-II-VM-review

He also did a comparison of many 50mm in the same blog. It worths a look

Not a bad performing lens at all. I enjoy mine very much. However, if someone gave me the option of the ZM Planar 50/2 Optics (or similar) in a current Ultron body design, I'd take that any day over the Nokton 50/1.5 ASPH II

I want this too. Same as the 28mm. The 50f1.5 has a different look though. It also feels different. Not the same quality focusing or the feel of the aperture ring. It also has those annoying tabs on the aperture ring. The images don’t have the same look either. The Ultrons have a specific look and feel of higher quality. It’s perfect and I don’t know why they don’t make a 50mm.

I have the 50 APO-Lanthar and instead of waiting for Voigtlander I’m going to wait for a mint 50 Summicron v4 or v5 to become available and jump on it. Otherwise, I’ll stick to the APO-Lanthar. Every photo is magic.

If you find a V5 Summicron, a 3rd party tab and a little VHB tape and you’ll a tabbed lens!

This is my go to when using a 50mm lens. Very pleased. The double focus ring beats a tab any day of the week.
