seekwhence Posted June 16, 2022 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Can anyone suggest a seller who might have an early replacement Telyt 40cm hood - the same type as the upper left one shown in Lager's Volume II (Leica Lenses, page 120). It has a stylized "y" in Telyt and "Germany" is not part of the engraving. Also, does anyone know if the early Telyt 40cm lens had a red felt lined, black flat panel lens cap, similar to what early Telyt 20cm lenses had? Thanks in advance! alan mcfall Posted June 16, 2022 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2022 Front cap is screw-in aluminum without Leitz marking. Early caps are flat black paint, later in black texturized paint. Felt liner in the hood is black. Earliest hoods did not have metal locating pins and the lens heads did not have the slots for the pins. Here is the 41st lens made, from the first lot of 50. I do not believe felt push-on caps were used on the first version 400 telyt. I have 35 of these lenses, but no extra hoods at this time, sorry. Other variations in the lenses and the hoods are known.
