This thread has gone from “omg there’s a problem is there a fix” to “dude you seriously spent that much money and haven’t figured out a solution in over half a year.” 😂

Indeed, the fact that after all this time Leica seems to ignore the issue completely is even more baffling (and upsetting) than the issue itself.

What you are experiencing is Leica customer service.

Indeed, it appears that other forum members are more upset that the actual owners. :)
I don't own a Titan and can't say I'm really upset, since I have no stakes in it. I'm just a bit disappointed to see Leica's complete lack of reaction to an obvious manufacturing issue in a preposterously expensive item.

Leica San Francisco just listed an "open box" set for $28K w/2-year Leica warranty. Too much coin for me at the moment, but someone should grab it at that price.

Interesting they say ‘open box’ but in the details they mention ‘very faint signs of use’.  To me open box is unused.  This is used.

Maybe he damaged the camera in the process of opening the box. Used a cutter that was a bit too long, perhaps? 😂

Joking aside, you're right. A cosmetic 9+ doesn't qualify as 'open box'. That's a 'used'.

A way to give it the 2-year new warranty I guess. Could have been an in/store display unit to ooh and ahh over and got handled a lot.

There were no display models. They were all sold out within a day of the store receiving. If they weren’t registered and the original receipt is involved is the only way to get the warranty. I think these will slowly disappear much like the MP Oliv did.

What does that warranty cover?  Apparently not the finish peeling off....

I thought Titan owners with the issue haven’t bothered to send them in.

I thought we had two on this thread who did?  One who has not heard anything from Leica in months.  And the other who's dealer told him they don't know if it would be covered under warranty?  Ok, so maybe one and a half..

Ah, I missed those or forgot since. So many problem threads to keep up with.

Not sure how trustworthy camerawest's descriptions are.  Given that this just posted FM3A has a collapsed prism  - check the straight on pic (and you can see the dent in some of the others), yet describes it as "9, minor handling wear"...

So that "open box" MA Titanium?  Hmm.

I bought a m2 from them that advertised the viewfinder was clear of fungus and haze but when I received it, it had a point fungus growing inside the viewfinder. I sent it back for a full refund. I lost quite a bit of money on currency exchange and custom taxes as they declared the value as $500 when I paid $1800. Don’t even know how I would claim that since there’s a big discrepancy in actual vs declared value. It was a nice gesture of them to under declare but I never asked them to..

Someone obviously screwed up when writing the description of that camera, but the pictures clearly show the prism damage so I don't believe there's any attempt to cover it up.

I've bought lots of used gear from CW over the past few years and, with one exception, it's all been just as described.  The one exception was an M2 that had an issue with the lens mount that made it difficult to mount my 50mm Summicron, but the camera had just been completely overhauled by Leica Wetzlar and someone there obviously missed this issue - as did whoever inspected the camera at CW upon its return from the Leica service.  All of my other lenses mounted fine to the camera, so the issue was specific to the 50 Summicron and so I suppose the oversight wasn't that egregious.  CW did promptly handle sending the camera back to Wetzlar for repair (at their expense) and it came back (after some months) working fine.

Given my experience, I don't think that CW is attempting to intentionally mislead anyone when selling used camera gear.  But mistakes do happen, and I think this is one case where a mistake was made grading the camera and not explicitly calling out the prism issue in the ad's text description.
