Crop of Stones

This always intrigues me, a pile of stones in the middle of a cultivated field. It is not uncommon to find these in the middle of a field here on the Prairies of Manitoba & Saskachewan.

Tech: LC-1, RAW, Heliopan Circular Polarizing filter, slight levels & contrast adjusted, USM in PSC2 then Save for Web.

This entire series is wonderful. BTW: North Dakota has those piles, too. The original farmers, when preparing the land, moved them into piles to free-up as much tillable soil as they could, but still not have to move the rocks too far. Alien visitors in a few millenia will wonder if it has religious meaning.

Stu,

I knew that but why are they always in the middle? You'd think they'd put them at the side of the field? I'd have thought they would build a barn or wall or something not just leave them in a pile. I agree in the future these little altars will indeed appear to have some religious meaning. Thanks for the chuckle.

Cheers,

jth
