Voigtlander Lenses Serial Numbers

Hi, recently I realized that Voigtlander removed serial numbers on their lens. Any ideas what the Cosina guys thinking or any particular reason behind this?

Make sure you check every bit of the outside surface carefully - they are often 1) silver on silver or black on black, and 2) in non-obvious places, such as the back of the mounting flange, 3) and small.

My 75mm Nokton f/1.5 (2 years old) has a very-hard-to-locate S/N - black on black, and on the outside extreme front rim of the lens. But it is there.

I think my recently-sold 35 f/1.4 Nokton MC II's number was on the flange, near where the "Cosina Co. ltd." engraving is. Thus invisible if the lens was mounted on a camera or wearing its back cap.

If you tell us specific lens models, other owners here may be able to describe where the S/Ns are engraved for that lens.

With mine it is on the mount end of the barrel.

The latest lenses seem to have the serial number on the lens mounting flange.

Never seen a CV lens sans S/N so far. All mine have one, either on the barrel or on the flange of the lens.

Yes this is right, just checked my new lenses, bought this month both have the S/N's on the base of the flange.

I found the S/N on the body of this Nokton 50mm F1.1, just below the "made in japan". See attached photo. It is all in black and hard to see although not too hard to find. Not sure how that relates to the year of manufacture.
