Zerlion Posted June 3, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted June 3, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, recently I realized that Voigtlander removed serial numbers on their lens. Any ideas what the Cosina guys thinking or any particular reason behind this? Cheers!
Advertisement Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Hi Zerlion, Take a look here Voigtlander Lenses Serial Numbers. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted June 3, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted June 3, 2022 Make sure you check every bit of the outside surface carefully - they are often 1) silver on silver or black on black, and 2) in non-obvious places, such as the back of the mounting flange, 3) and small. My 75mm Nokton f/1.5 (2 years old) has a very-hard-to-locate S/N - black on black, and on the outside extreme front rim of the lens. But it is there. I think my recently-sold 35 f/1.4 Nokton MC II's number was on the flange, near where the "Cosina Co. ltd." engraving is. Thus invisible if the lens was mounted on a camera or wearing its back cap. If you tell us specific lens models, other owners here may be able to describe where the S/Ns are engraved for that lens.
Pyrogallol Posted June 3, 2022 Share #3  Posted June 3, 2022 With mine it is on the mount end of the barrel. Welcome, dear visitor! oldwino Posted June 3, 2022 Share #4 Â Posted June 3, 2022 The latest lenses seem to have the serial number on the lens mounting flange.
lct Posted June 3, 2022 Share #5  Posted June 3, 2022 Never seen a CV lens sans S/N so far. All mine have one, either on the barrel or on the flange of the lens.
Pintpot Posted June 3, 2022 Share #6 Â Posted June 3, 2022 Yes this is right, just checked my new lenses, bought this month both have the S/N's on the base of the flange.

Mark Monochrom Posted April 15, 2023 Share #8  Posted April 15, 2023 I found the S/N on the body of this Nokton 50mm F1.1, just below the "made in japan". See attached photo. It is all in black and hard to see although not too hard to find. Not sure how that relates to the year of manufacture. Welcome, dear visitor!
