How can I get the M10-R profile right at import in LRc?

When I import  pictures in LRc iMac the Adobe Standard profile is applied automatically.

There is an M10-R profile. The M0-R profile is just a tad nicer. (subtle, so to say).

So I changed a files, made a preset with that only change and used that for my next import.

. . . and the outcome was: still Adobe Standard.

How should I do it - how do you import?

Easiest way is to make the changes you want and save as a preset.

You then go into Lightroom Catalogue (top tab) and then to preferences.

From there click on Global and choose camera settings

Underneath that choose your camera and change the default to preset.

Choose the saved preset and it should show in the right hand side of the panel.

When you import your images with that camera your new settings should be applied.

I had it in my import dialogue window. Still Standard.

I added the last step: select it in Adobe Catalogue preferences.  Still Standard.

After an import: not correct & the difference between Standard:

and the right profile: not just suble better. Really better. It tells me - Why I have the camera !

So I dug into it, opened the "M10-R profiel import" I had made by saving a preset after I made aonly that change to a file [like I said in my first post] , and it says:

crs:CameraProfile="Adobe Standard"
   crs:CameraProfileDigest="088B1291EF7BD7C040D02D64EEF8EA31"
   crs:HasSettings="True">
   <crs:Name>
    <rdf:Alt>
     <rdf:li xml:lang="x-default">M10-R profiel import</rdf:li>

The latter the name, the first one the profile applies.

I'm not a hacker but at college took that course in tampering with the OS in a course called AI, but I should make a change there and insert  crs:CameraProfile="LEICA M10-R😇 and just save the file . . . .

that idea didn't work. now LR complains: missing profile.

So back to basics: deleted the import profile.

  1. In a new image applied M10-R, again saved that as preset, in 'user presets' and then it popped up again in the preview panel.
  2. Applied it in Preferences.
  3. When I tested it on a new import,  like Ernie said,    IT NOW WORKS

Thanks, I run around in circles sometimes. Like my sister says, the new gray space of COVID??

  • 1 year later...

It went wrong again, one year later.

So, more than a year ago I had successfully installed 'a M10-R profile', such that when importing, the text  M10-R profile appeared as the selected one after import.

Now since some time, import erroneously shows Adobe Standard.

  • In develop mode, I can manually change it to M10-R (it is there in the drop-down) ; copy it; & paste it in library mode to all.  Then all pictures show the profile name.
  • Yes, the M10-R profile is there (somewhere). But the only M10-R profile is called is 'LEICA M10-R Adobe Standard.dcp', the adobe standard profile.

In the catalogue preferences/import settings I cannot select M10-R, only Adobe Standard. (The only Leica CameraRaw camera profiles are for the C/D/V-Lux and the M8.)

I followed my previous steps of post #5 to make a 'new profile' again.

  1. I start to think: did I really have an authentic Leica profile?
  2. How do others have a profile?
