Huss Posted May 19, 2022 Share #1 Posted May 19, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a few 28mm lenses - including from Leica. But I want this TTArtisans 28mm f5.6 black finish not chrome! Just because I love the way it looks in black! https://photorumors.com/2022/05/10/also-coming-soon-black-ttartisan-28mm-f-5-6-lens-for-leica-m-mount/ I am eagerly waiting for it to be released, but it really is non-sensical as my current small 28s are much better optically - Elmarit Asph and CV 28 3.5. And yet... 4
Advertisement Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Hi Huss, Take a look here Is it bad to want a lens just because of how it looks?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Al Brown Posted May 19, 2022 Share #2 Posted May 19, 2022 (edited) Not at all. If it makes you happy nothing else really matters. I got a black paint M10-R just because it looks so brutally cool AND a black paint Voigtlander Ultron 28/2 II ASPH to go with it. I am of course blessed that both camera and the lens are top notch first class tools for work... on top of their dandy looks. erniethemilk Posted May 19, 2022 Share #3 Posted May 19, 2022 No. Only live once. And it’s only £300 quid or so which isn’t a lot for an M Mount lens.
Jose Chiyah Posted May 19, 2022 Share #4 Posted May 19, 2022 I think if you like your camera and your lens you take more times and take more pics. This lens looks awesome 😃 Hugs
Capuccino-Muffin Posted May 19, 2022 Share #5 Posted May 19, 2022 (edited) Definitely find and use a LEGENDARY summmaron Black. For the looks alone, if you really like how this chinese looks, save it as your phone home screen and admire it whenever you need your fix. I do this a lot with brassed Black Paint Leicas and ratty old Billingham bags. Love looking at them sexy badass babes. johnwolf Posted May 19, 2022 Share #12 Posted May 19, 2022 (edited) Hey, it's a hobby about aesthetics, so why not? I've grown to seriously dislike black lenses with the chrome hood mount, like Zeiss and many Voigtlanders. So much so I won't buy anymore, however good they may be. I HAVE to put a hood over, it bugs me that much. I'm looking for a Summarit 35, but I want the 2.5 version for its less barrel-like, more graceful (to me) shape. John I just do not understand that chrome ring on the front of Zeiss and CV lenses. I think it's all part of the plan to force us to buy the optional and expensive lens hoods! Plus it looks ugly IMO. I have quite a few ZM and CV lenses. And ya, I have the hoods for them. Darn it they got me! It's actually why I cannot bring myself to buy the optically awesome CV 28mm Ultron v2. That chrome ring on the front. Ick.

kivis Posted May 20, 2022 Share #18 Posted May 20, 2022 I love classy looking lens, especially if they are great performers. Latest love: Voigtlander 35mm f/2 Ultron II Black CLASSIC 1970'S STYLING ON REAL BRASS LENS BARREL
madNbad Posted May 20, 2022 Share #19 Posted May 20, 2022 You need a Chiyoko (Rokkor) 2.8 45 mm for your tiny lens collection. Unfortunately, they were only made in chrome over brass. Bring the rattle can for a copy in black. No click stops as a bonus!

If you have a way to remove the chrome plating and repaint the ring, its not too difficult to remove. Usually the name plate is threaded in and easy to unscrew with a rubber lens cone, which reveals three screws that hold in the chrome ring. I would consider doing it, but I don't trust any paint shop here to do a good job with it...
