It occurred to me that it may be a great idea to collect images that represent how we relate to the places we call home. Here's is my attempt for a humble start, please feel free to join and post your images - in the same spirit, doesn't have to be the same city/country/continent ...

While this is not the whole story by far, an image from this afternoon captures some of the typical elements of the 'Pacific Northwest experience': Puget sound, mountains (Olympic Peninsula), clouds. There is more to tell, but for me those will always be essential parts of what makes Seattle special:

About 30 years ago I was in the boatyard at Port Townsend getting a 60-year-old Tahiti Ketch ready for a solo circumnavigation. I made it as far as Kauai when several storms and a cat 4 hurricane forced me to stop and make repairs. I never left.M10/50 Cron

I live in Madison, Wisconsin, which is an isthmus city defined by a vibrant downtown with a beautiful capitol building in the center and large lakes on both sides. The one image that shows this best is an aerial shot.

I live on Scalpay in the Western Isles, the light is often dramatic.  Made this image about 20 minutes ago from the front garden:
