A Q&D test to ascertain potential magnification using 67mm diameter Marumi 3 diopter, 5 diopter, & 8 diopter ( stacked 5 + 3 diopter) 3-element achromatic close-up lenses ... screwed onto Panasonic 20-60mm L mount lens with lens set to 60mm focal length and fitted to Leica T APS-C camera .

Camera was supported  on a small copy stand opposite a window.

Leica T camera sensor measures 23.6mm x 15.7mm.  Steel ruler was placed across the longest 23.6mm side of the image frame. Live view image is actually slightly cropped by the camera ... hence the 'edge gap' on LHS and 'adjusted' image width distance used in calculations.

Camera used with manual focus ... also tried with AF and same results obtained.

Actual magnification = 23.6 divided by actual width of ruler visible.

At 60mm focal length set to the lens' closest native focus, ruler width = approx 120mm (width adjusted for LHS gap)

Native magnification = 23.6 / 120 = 0.2 mag

At 60mm focal length Using Marumi 3 diopter c/u lens approx 66mm ruler width visible thus magnification = 23.6/66 = 0.35 mag

At 60mm focal length Using Marumi 5 diopter c/u lens approx 52mm ruler width visible thus magnification = 23.6/52  = 0.45 mag

At 60mm focal length Using stacked Marumi 3 diopter plus Marumi 5 diopter  (total 8 diopter) c/u lens approx 42mm ruler width visible thus magnification = 23.6/42  = 0.56 mag

Unlikely to gain much by stacking c/u lenses ... probably better to crop the 5 diopter image ... this is just a technical exercise prior to trying the Panasonic 20-60mm 'in the field' in more difficult conditions.

The 67 mm diameter Marumi close-up lenses are 3 element achromats. Marumi is rumoured to be the manufacturer of Leica S Elpro 180 lenses which sell for approx £850.

'Regular' Marumi 67mm diameter achromats are listed at c. £70 .

EDIT and correction ... 'Regular' Marumi 67mm diameter achromats are listed at c. £120 depending on where purchased ... but can sometimes be sourced secondhand  for significantly £less
