For me, the image needs a lighter hand in pp than some of the versions here which are all various methods of adjusting colour saturation and contrast.  Doing in pp what a polariser would have done is about the extent of the colour and contrast editing work that I would do with this image.

I took out a few distracting highlight reflections (the worst is the tree with a patch of missing bark on the left third) from the lake at the bottom of the image and levelled it with some high pass sharpening.  

The black and white conversion was done in SFXP2.
