But I think the question was how do you fit a filter over the end of the lenshood? My bad then although i have never seen a filter thread there i must say. "Outperform" is a vague term, but I also have both (well, all three) and I don't think either of the 35 Summarons outperform this lens in any technical sense. They're excellent lenses for 1960, especially the f/2.8, but this is a modern lens.

cboy Posted October 14, 2022 Share #124 Â Posted October 14, 2022 Thanks for the replies. I had assumed there was a thread, I guessed wrong. Anyway I ordered instead a 34-37mm step up ring with a 37mm black pro mist diffusion filter. I'll post results once I receive it.

Did you try the lens with adapter for 35mm on an M? Do you need the typical adapter for 35mm with a recess to ensure that the focus-knob works? Or can you use adapters without recess?

UliWer Posted November 24, 2022 Share #131  Posted November 24, 2022 Now i can confirm that the 35mm Adapter without recess shown above does not cause problems for focussing the lens🙂. Some quick first examples with a LTM-mount version of the Heliar with adapter on the M10: Welcome, dear visitor! UliWer Posted November 24, 2022 Share #132  Posted November 24, 2022 (edited) In the review linked in #99 the 40mm Heliar was compared to the 35mm Summaron. I think the obvious comparison would be the 40mm C-Summicron. I had a try with both. Strong crops, focussing with liveview and focuspeaking on the display of the M10. Both f/2.8 First the center: Heliar:                                                                                 Welcome, dear visitor! UliWer Posted November 24, 2022 Share #134 Â Posted November 24, 2022 So maybe the Summicron shows better resolution in the center, though the difference is very slight. In the corners it is evident that the Heliar is better. The aspherical element making the difference. Â
