Interesting indeed. My copy for VM-E adapter is very sharp with swirling bokeh. Would you mind to show some out of focus rendering if you have some time? Just curious.

It's relatively hard to get a swirly bokeh while it compares with other lenses that I owned.

The followings are wide-opened, FYR.

@Erato, could you take a photo of the mount and share? Want to know if there is a coding groove on the flange.

Also what frame lines does it bring up? 35 or 50.

FYR, no coding groove found if I am correct. BTW, the frame lines lie at 50mm while the lens detection is "OFF".

Are you sure it is not here?

Nope, it is not there, all that I can see is another screw out there.

I'll take another clear shot for you tomorrow.

I’m gonna check this lens in person tomorrow, if anyone who already has it could share some portrait shots or close-up bokeh shots that would be great. The rollei 40mm f2.8 was such a great lens with a beautiful rendering, wondering if this can offer a similar rendering especially when it comes to the bokeh department.

Here you are. Mounted on the M10 Monochrom today. MFD with a few bokeh balls.

Thank you much but to avoid misunderstandings, the serial number of CV lenses and/or the Cosina name sit into the grove for 6-bit coding usually (my red arrow above). The screw you're showing is too far from it to get in the way.

Sounds great to me, thank you so much for your informative update.

That would be right. Looks like for this lens, white and black paint would both be needed to code.

Just arrived today. This lens is remarkable and it's a lovely pancake.

Voigtländer designed Heliar in 1900.  As you can see, the size of this lens is unbelievably tiny nowadays and it is powerful from my first-day impression.

Thank you for posting these snaps, the lens looks really good........I will definitely be ordering one and hopefully I will be able to pick it up on a US trip later this month. I already have the VC f1.4 40mm Nokton and I like this focal length a lot, more though I like compact lenses on a M camera. The lack of 6 bit encoding isn't a worry either, coding for anything above 35mm makes little or no difference as far as I am concerned.

What is the right way to get 35mm frame lines if I want to use the VM version of the lens on an M10? Thank you!

General answer is filing out the flange like other M-mount 40mm lenses (link) but i have no experience with this Heliar model.
