Hello,

My gear list is:

Leica M6TTL 0.85

Leica SL2

LEICA SUMMICRON 50mm f/2.0

Leica SEM 21mm f/3.4 (I use it with external OVF on M6TTL)

LEICA SUMMICRON 35mm f/2.0 (I cannot use it on M6TTL 0.85)

Leica Elmarit 90mm f/2.8

I had bought almost all of my gear 2nd hand, except for Leica SL2.

And now, I want to buy a faster lens.

The options that I have are:

I can trade in 21mm SEM and 35mm Summicron both in order to buy just a Summilux 28mm f/1.4 lens.

21mm turned out to be too wide for me and I could not get used to these two focal lengths, maybe I can try 28mm as a focal length between them.

Is 28mm the new 35mm? what do you think?

On the other hand I can trade in LEICA SUMMICRON 50mm and Elmarit 90mm both in order to buy one Leica 50mm lens with a wider aperture: Summilux f/1.4, Noctilux f/1.2 or as a third choice 50mm Apo summicron (I know it is not a wider aperture lens but has more micro contrast than my current 50mm summicron, afaik)

Of course, I will also have to pay a lot more extra money to top up.

Finally I will have just two faster lenses.

I know that this is a personal choice and I should try before I make a final decision but, I would appreciate your advices, especially if you have used, tried and switched between these lenses before.

I also know SL Lenses are a good option but I would rather stick to M lenses because I can use all of my M lenses on both cameras and I really like these analog/digital experiences.

Thanks!

Intermediate route to the Graal (which will not come anyway), try this combo 28/50:

- Summicron-M 28mm but would be used with aux finder 28 on your M6

- Summilux-M 50mm pre-asph or or second choice asph. model if you want (not too dear)

Immediate comment; do not sell any to buy others… if required, wait…

PS: my first Lux was the 35 asph pre-FLE and I am just so happy about it. A second PS: even if not being a 50s guy, I am currently starting to explore my new second Lux 50 as well… PS 3; I firmly believe there will be no more Luxˋes in my life 😉

For shooting film get a 50 Lux and never look back.

I have thousands of pictures to prove that, if need be 😄.

other had done ...

Even if I do use also with M sensors and nothing to complain with Summilux 50mm.

Also I had used for a while (happily !) the asph. version Summilux 50mm which was not as good (not my taste would be correct) as the pre-asph. model.

Thank you for your precious advices. 🙏50mm summilux seems like a good choice for low light shooting experience and subject separation from background. I will think about buying a 50mm summilux.

Another vote for the 50 lux asph. I think it's a bigger difference over the cron in look than the cron apo unless pixel peeping. I know, I know, that's controversial but the old cron 5 is just so damn good.
