While they did an amazing job with colors even at ISO 3200, the camera seems to have some issues with black. It becomes evident when exposure is lifted bei 1/3 and shadows are pulled up to +60. One almost needs to pull down shadows at high ISO with this camera.

Thanks @tashley so much for posting these.  Wish (ahem) the manufacturer would also do the same on their website so potential purchasers can see what the camera is capable of 😃

When you have time, would it be possible to post a couple of 36MP and 18MP pixel-binned RAW samples?

Again - thanks!

My pleasure.

I haven’t shot any binned images - it;s largely not a thing I’d use and so I have little interest in exploring it. If I want a low-res shot for memories only I’ll use my iPhone! What that means is that I wouldn’t be taking shots to explore that feature so they’d just be snaps and probably not very useful though I am sure that other contributors here will fill the gap.

I think manufacturers want to post images that are great punchy exciting obvious things. When I shot a  series at Venice Carnival in 2007 Leica used it for quite a while because it showed what the camera could do by showing bright punchy images. But the images I have posted in this thread, though dull as ditchwater, are much more useful as a guide to what the camera does, rather than what pretty images a competent photographer could make with it….

I would love to get a couple raw files at 12800 or 12500 iso at half resolution (don't recall numbers sorry). What i've seen at full resolution is too noisy for my tastes. Please forget my question if such raw files are available elsewhere.

Unfortunately, agree.

With access to RAWs you can put the samples through the wringer and compare them to similar images shot with existing gear.  An excellent GAS preventative 😃 Doesn't have to be anything fancy either, shots of Macbeth colour charts at different ISOs will do.

BTW am interested in the pixel-binned 36 MP option as it appears to be a "sweet spot" of IQ vs filesize.  No one appears to be using it though (?)…

Phase One introduced pixel binning years ago and having tried it once or twice I gave up. It felt like putting wicker baskets on a racehorse. But I suppose I should give it a go. I’m not so interested in the file size saving but for some uses the potential for DR and/or noise improvements might be useful. If I get a chance I’ll give it a go later today or tomorrow and post some results.
