Othon A. Leon Posted January 18, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I purchased the mentioned case (almost 200$), but when I insert my D7, the picture ratio position is invariably changed since it is pressed by the interior of the case. I was very surprised that being produced by Leica, designers did not pay attention to that flaw. I am wondering if anybody here has had the same problem and if anybody has found a way to circumvent the problem... thanks! Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Hi Othon A. Leon, Take a look here Leica D-Lux 7 Case is beautiful, but a problem.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Geoff777 Posted January 18, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2022 Odd how it can do that - looks like the section covering the lens would push inwards, not laterally (which is how you'd have to move the ratio switch). Maybe try pushing the switch to one end or the other (3:2 or 4:3) and if you want a different ratio crop it later?
nicci78 Posted January 20, 2022 Share #3 Posted January 20, 2022 The rational behind a permanently cropped D-Lux is to choose the desired aspect ratio before shooting. You already have very limited pixel count. You would not want to double crop it !
DaveMo Posted January 20, 2022 Share #4 Posted January 20, 2022 I have been trying to "wrap my head" around your problem and I cannot work out how the case would cause the switch to move. I have a DL109 (previous version of the DL and almost identical to yours) and the switch has a noticeable click between settings and the operating "bump" only just sticks up above lens barrel. Does your camera have a noticeable "click" between settings? Dave

If you started at 4:3 (which gives the highest number of pixels), the only ratio where you wouldn't lose by software cropping is 1:1. If you software crop from 4:3 to either 16:9 or 3:2 you will have less pixels than if you'd set that ratio on the camera.
macedwin Posted June 4, 2023 Share #6 Posted June 4, 2023 Hi, I recently got the D-Lux7 007 eidtion which came with a shoulder holster case, and experience the same problem. I am very disappointed that Leica designers did not test this properly as almost 100% of the time when I pull out the camera, the picture size "setting" changes from 3:2 (my setting) to either 16:9 or even 1:1. I've highlighted this to my local Leica store but they have no solution.
