If you want more visuals of the silver body to decide for yourself, you can check out the article on my blog for more photos. (Written in German unfortunately because I think there's already good enough content available in English so far: Leica M11 Review - Testbericht)

The new Apple translation on iPhone worked a treat.  Couldn’t tell it wasn’t written in English, which is very rare for automatic translators!

Since 1975 I have owned nothing but black cameras (o.k., little choice with Canon F-1, Nikon D-series...), but the M11 is my second silver chrome in my life (1974 a Revue-3 was also in silver)...and I really like it

I could not imagine how the weight difference would be notable and feel so different. If that matters to anyone, I would truly suggest the black version. No doubt there will be a limited series with black chrome, but I will stick with the current version. It's that significant, and specially if combined with Noctilux lenses. 110g seems not much but 20% does :)

I would strongly suggest trying both versions at a Leica store if in doubt!

Whatever your decision, you can't get wrong. It is a master piece. Everything has improved and has been optimised. And I am amazed at the metering. I used to be 100% manual but for many instances I can see myself shooting Aperture priory + Automatic ISO + Multi Field Metering. It's that good.

Enjoy your purchase !

Mine will be black with a black Leica dot too.

I ordered my one in black.

I can not understand how some people think the EVF will scratch the black version. I tried it in the store - if you watch out and insert it carefully there is no way to scratch it.

Again some stupid thoughts of people how never tried it but directly publish their opinion....

Which color are you going with for the M11? Black or Silver?

Black has the stealthy looks and lighter weight.

Silver feels more substantial and will have really nice brassing over time.

Decisions, decisions...

With these two offerings, don't expect any brassing anytime soon. Silver chrome on brass takes forever to brass if at all.

I did experience the same "color choice" problem when I got the M10 but to be honest my only black Leica has been the black chrome M8. I totally understand that a black body stays less noticed if you carry it in your hands with a wrist strap or covered by a jacket. What decided the color in the past for me has been availability. I had two M10s in silver since its release and a silver M240 because those were the best available cameras on the 2nd hand market and I was happy with them, same as the black M8. I usually prefer the base models because they lack the beautiful top engraving which I think is nice to look at but doesn't stay unnoticed. The monochrome bodies are the stealthiest in my experience. This is how I decided to cover up the red dot on my recent M which is a bit nicer than just the black tape. Kind of reminds me of an M9 body. A camera I've skipped in the past.

If you want more visuals of the silver body to decide for yourself, you can check out the article on my blog for more photos. (Written in German unfortunately because I think there's already good enough content available in English so far: Leica M11 Review - Testbericht)

I would still love to try out the new black M11 and see how good it will age but I'm sure the silver model will look nice no matter what happens to it. That's what's my experience with the previous silver M cameras.

@GFML
Wait, this looks like a brilliant idea.  Can I ask you, exactly what did you use to cover the red dot here?

I’m glad I ended up with the black since it’s sunny 310 days of the year here in NM, USA. The other day I was out shooting with my silver CV 75 1.5 and nearly blinded myself with a direct reflection of the sun off the lens barrel. I blurted out, “Bloody hell!!” in a British accent and then couldn’t stop laughing at myself.

Went for the black one because it was in stock - thanks, anonymous person that cancelled their pre-order because of some YT video :)

It does attract less attention, though. People usually notice my  kid's Fujifilm X100V before they notice my M11.
