Newborn photography

Dear LUF members,

My current cameras are Leica M9 and M10. I really like rangefinders and exchanged in the past my ex SL601 for M10, no regrets at all.

Why I'm posting question in SL section? We are going to have another baby and I realised rangefinder is not really appropriate for macro and close up shots. As newborns, my two daughters were photographed with Fuji cameras + tele/macro lenses. I'm thinking in three directions regarding first few months:

a) Canon R + EF Canon 50 1.2 + Canon a macro tele lens

b) Leica SL + Leica 24-70

c) Leica S 006 + Summarit 120

When kid start to walk around I will be (most likely) using M + M Lux 50 or 28 Cron as I'm now. My main concern are first few months when a macro or near focusing lens can be very useful at documenting a newborn.

I plan to use the system also in the future. I really like CCD colors that's why I added to the list also Leica S 006 as a valuable landscape/portraits camera.

Do you guys have any experience with beformentioned system/lenses and newborn photography? I'm especially interested in Leica 24-70 lens and possible S system options.

Thank you

Have anyone experience with Leica 24-90 or 24-70 and close up/macro like photography? And last question: how does Canon EF lenses work on Leica SL (manual vs afs mode).

Thank you all for help

An SL with a native zoom is a step in the right direction as fast AF and flash functionalities will serve you well in photographing your kids for many years to come.  However, I'd strongly recommend the 24-90 if your budget allows.  The 70-90mm range will be very useful for filling the frame or photographing from a distance.  Children, after all, are kind of smallish and they run around!
