a.noctilux Posted May 31, 2022 Share #21 Posted May 31, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Even before the birth of Noctilux, more than a dozen of light gathering lenses were made for many formats. In my view nothing can "kill" Noctilux's myth or reality. a list ... So we will see again more "Noctilux-killers", who cares . Even two Noctilux are quite different from each other, when we use them along. Guess how I know this ? Advertisement Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 Hi a.noctilux, Take a look here I might have found an ideal ultra fast 50mm, which could be the Noctilux killer. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Huss Posted May 31, 2022 Share #22 Posted May 31, 2022 The Syoptic 50mm lens also has a really weird permanent lens hood, which makes it very difficult to use filters with as you cannot grip the outside of the filter. A baffling design decision.

swatch Posted June 2, 2022 Share #24 Posted June 2, 2022 Choosing “Killer” to describe even a lens is somewhat linkage to violence which should not be promoted or encouraged, please. Lenses from Leica may not score high in price performance ratio, but lenses from Leica should not be killed. Thank you.

rramesh Posted July 22, 2022 Share #29 Posted July 22, 2022 Any lens performing at 95+% and cheaper than the servicing cost of a comparable Leica is a great lens, I would think.

TomB_tx Posted July 22, 2022 Share #31 Posted July 22, 2022 Back in the 1960s-70s various lenses were touted as a "Summilux Killer" or "Summicron Killer" - but their deaths were certainly exaggerated. I have a few of them, like the Canon 50mm f1.4 ltm (2nd version), and they can be nice lenses, but not revolutionary On the other hand I'm not a fanatic about only using Leica lenses on Leica. There are many fine lenses available, but Leica still motors on...

leicaminox8x11 Posted April 10, 2023 Share #33 Posted April 10, 2023 (edited) Maybe these lenses should be called 'Notalux' . Having used the real thing and sold it far too early most of these noctilux lenses , like most modern Leica M, are bought as investments rather than money earning tools Edited April 10, 2023 by leicaminox8x11
jaapv Posted April 11, 2023 Share #34 Posted April 11, 2023 I don't know about money making, that sounds more like an investment banker's forum, but I can assure you that very few if any of our members buy their gear for another purpose than to use it. Stick around and you'll notice that there are actually photographs being posted on this forum.
