Non Leica hot shoe cover for the m10?

Can anyone point me to hot shoe cover that will work for the m10 bodies?  I don't want to spend the money to get an official Leica one right now as this is a temporary body.   I just need it to protect the connectors, don't really care about the color match or exact fit for the body as long as it stays on and will keep moisture out.

thanks

Lost mine so long ago, so having some more at hand is good idea.

As the contacts need protection, I made in few minutes a squarish plastic at good size to put in the hot shoe.

For a while the protection was a piece of adhesive tape, not nice looking, but works for a while.

Or something like this (without the end cut as M10 has no screw there ... no need identifier or something to remember )

I use one of these. Quite useful when camera is mounted on a tripod with no level gauge.

@rrameshThanks.  I actually ended up ordering that earlier today.  I always thought that hot shoe covers were farily universal but when I looked at a few on amazon they always listed the bodies they were compatible for.  Maybe that refers to how they blend into the body style and color.  This will look awkward on my Silver 10-P but it's a temporary body so I'm not too worried.

Found one from Italy on the Bay that is made of METAL. Had to look really hard though. I wonder why Leica puts plastic hot shoe covers on their M10, especially on my Black Paint it looks ugly, the only off detail on the entire camera.
Anyway, I always put the thumb rest over the hot shoe, the Thumbs Up black paint looks awesome!

  • 1 year later...

Leica has known about this problem for quite a long time (since the M10 was on the market). Unfortunately, not enough people have complained about this via customer service.

The only way to solve this is to contact Leica Customer Care Service (customer.care@leica-camera.com). The more people would raise this is an issue, Leica would than prioritize this issue in the right direction.

Please refer to my comments today. Many thanks.

Since it’s not important to you then you can type exactly this into google and check some reviews.
