few shots with my Summilux 24 from yesterday in Stanley and Shek O, Hong Kong

Getting used to the wider format, I like how this lens slows me down and lets me be creative about perspective and framing, colors are also great

I like less its size and weight, contrast could be better too

Shot on M11

I own the 24mm Elmarit and though I have tried to shoot with it many times, I found that 95% of the pictures I took with it could have been taken with a 35mm as well.  And I believe this thread kinds of proves it as most pictures posted here could have easily been taken with a 35mm (except for Malabito's pictures) . Yet with 24mm, you get extra distortion and less ability to separate background than 35mm.
This makes the 24mm as a focal for special projects, for crowded environment, when you want to get close and get the surroundings in the picture. A very difficult focal to use. At least from me. But made me want to try again, that is what is good about theses threads ;)

In my book 24mm is the widest lens one can go without screaming wide angle (which is obvious in 21mm and 18mm lenses, at least to my eye). 24mm is very different than 35mm. I mean, your point is valid the same as in a statement you wouldn't need 50mm lens as once could crop it in from 35mm.

Yes, 35mm and 50mm are also close. Yet, depth of field had a much bigger impact and can justify having both if you like to blur backgrounds. Also I use the 50mm when it is not possible to physically get closer with the 35mm. Tried again the 24mm extensively last month but same result: most shots would have been equal or better with the 35mm. So I put it on exile ;) stored for a year with no use.
