I just pulled down the exposure and highlight slider to try and fix it (and more or less yes it worked) It's better with an ND filter though!
M Street Photographer Posted February 6, 2023 Share #363 Â Posted February 6, 2023 I thought about the exposure compensation in the camera. And yes, an ND (variable) is also possible, but only if you don't want to stop down the next time you take a picture, otherwise filter up, filter down would be very annoying. I'll use the filter, it's just nice to know that I can just about get away without one if needed

Well I won't rehash the excellent review on fredmiranda, just some random thoughts - this is a BIG lens, sure it'll depend on what body you use and what other lens you have and it's lighter than the TTa and Noctilux 50/0.95 options, but it's a very significant size uplift over say a summilux 50 asph - F1 and accurate focus is a bit of a lottery with the RF (and sometimes the 020 M10 EVF) - Purple Fringing and flare, the 1st is easy to fix except for when it isn't and (even with the hood) flare can really run a photo. I'm transported back in time 30 years to my photography professor saying don't shoot into the sun Adam  ^-----That's f**ked that is - Bokeh... nice enough except for when it isn't... yeah sometimes the edges are sharper than the centre... as ever with photography it pays to pay attention to the background - If I'm honest once the honeymoon is over... I suspect I'll be reaching for my 50 lux over this for anything other than a specific very shallow DOF need - It's a good lens, the images are generally pleasing, the build feels robust (I can't imagine it would do well in a fall though) - It's perhaps not worth the money... sure dirt cheap compared to any red dot glass, and a far better performer than anything 'F1-ish' from other cheaper manufacturers, but equally for 40ish% less money you could have the CV 50 F2 APO or 1.5 and what you'll give up in shallow DOF I suspect you'll gain heaps more on VFM I'm very happy with it overall, but whereas 'one trick pony' would be a very harsh thing to say about a lens that stops down nicely and is well corrected with good IQ, you can equally find all of those attributes in other smaller, lighter and cheaper glass meaning that, for me at least there's probably only one trick I'm going to asking this pony to do... of course YMWV I think if you're a shallow DOF lover then this lens could be the start of true love for you, but IMHO it's a little big and clunky to be one's sole 50mm on an M and (a bit like the 50 lux) the wide open magic dissipates quite quickly as the aperture ring is turned.  Don't classify this lens in your mind so quickly. Try night street photography, shooting in dark restaurants, etc. At f/1 in bright daylight, I would call the out of focus areas Rated R for Graphic Bokeh Violence.

I was out today with the VC Ultron 21 1.8 and the VC 50 1.0 at -1C in the afternoon. After 1.5 hours it was too cold despite the sun. Photos from 50.1.0 will follow later.

It's not cold here really - it's just the huge difference between the daytime temp (I needed only a teeshirt on Monday!!) and when it gets dark (night in in front of the fire) Something about this change seems to hit me hard
M Street Photographer Posted February 8, 2023 Share #369  Posted February 8, 2023 (edited) Today I was on the road with the 50 1.0. I took the risk of only using the 1.4 viewfinder magnifier, the Visoflex stayed at home, was that a mistake? Because I have too many misfocused ones at f 1.0. Sometimes the forcus was a bit behind, sometimes at infinity, it wasn't "correctly" sharp. Possibly the infinity focus is faulty because past the infinity point I don't have 1mm of wiggle room to keep turning the focus ring to focus.Adam, how is yours? Next time I will test the Visflex again with 1.0. Now here are some with comments, some without, which are ok. 1. f4 das 2. f 1.0 Welcome, dear visitor!
