M Street Photographer Posted January 27, 2023 Share #282 Posted January 27, 2023 As you wish, well in the spring it is more pleasant. If we use it properly, from Friday to Sunday evening, if you are tied to work, that should be enough for the first impression. Gladly also during the week, I am not bound. Then you say "I always have a suitcase in Berlin" and come back.

I was a bit joking about the winter because you were complaining about it 😁 I live in Portugal, you should visit me 😂 it was 14 deg some days last week! I’m usually work free, but I do have parental responsibilities. first impressions of the CV50/1 it’s big but ok on the camera with the handgrip not 100% sure about the focus ring on my example.. it’s smooth (ie not gritty) but very tight, definitely not a speed focusing lens… probably because it’s moving a lot of glass and the FLE, plus it’s brand new. test shots to follow tomorrow… but now food, unpack my case etc etc
Timbatop Posted January 28, 2023 Share #285 Posted January 28, 2023 I’m really enjoying this lens — not so much for the shallow DOF, but the ability to shoot in very low light. I used to take my Q2M out for that, and now get almost as good low light performance with the SL2 and VM 50 1.0. Welcome, dear visitor! Adam Bonn Posted January 29, 2023 Share #286 Posted January 29, 2023 OK some get test shots.... Ok these are all f1.0 (because well why else?) My RF f1 hit rate is such that I suspect the lens is a reasonable match with my camera... Using the hand and thumb grip on the M the lens is big but balances ok.... As I said before the focus ring is a bit too stiff to turn for my tastes... but it's brand new and I guess it's heaving a lot of glass and an FLE... Noctilux 50/0.95 profile seems passable in LR (there's no proper CV one, yet..) so I'll probably code the lens as that... It's a bit 'purple fringe-y' (which is easier than typing chromatic aberrationery) but I suppose that's to be expected at f1? It's also far to cold me me to be outside right now, I'm unused to this English weather!! Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! "accidentally" huh? (faded lettering makes my assessment of focus in this tricky...) ----------------------------- I'm not unhappy... maybe the focus ring is too tight, or one of you eagle eyed good folks spots something that's amiss with it in the photos, and I also need to try and test if it matches my RF ok (iirc Leica don't recommend the RF beneath F1.4...) and isn't de-centred or something.... a long time ago I stopped looking for problems with gear, it's better when the problem finds me... ...but if you see something call it out, if I need to return it'll be so much easier while I'm in England
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! M Street Photographer Posted January 29, 2023 Share #289 Posted January 29, 2023 (edited) Congratulations! The first test shots look as expected with the lens. Nothing noticeably negative. I don't find the "sluggishness" of the focus ring to be so, but it may also be a matter of taste. The adjustment of the VC seems to have become very good. So far I have not had any that showed any misadjustments on the M. Adam, and you said one thing right: Don't look for problems, wait for them to find you. So far no one has found me. Everyone has color fringes at the maximum opening, but these are very easy to eliminate. PS: Another tip: Even if you have fast lenses and like to photograph f1, but you can also stop down and you will get to know some of the strengths of the VC. M Street Photographer Posted January 29, 2023 Share #292 Posted January 29, 2023 (edited) Hmmmm, I'm missing a little the "crunchy" sharpness. Is it s.Forum, or are the jepg from the camera without sharpness +1/2? what about f4 or 5.6? Edited January 29, 2023 by M Street Photographer

The focus point was the church, so most of the picture is the foreground which will be less in focus

That should be a 100% crop of wide open at the centre... at maybe 1.2 metres looks ok? M Street Photographer Posted January 29, 2023 Share #299 Posted January 29, 2023 Well, at f 8 there might be a bit of diffraction blur. Rarely do I go above 5.6

If my lens has a sub par performance then between now and Friday will be relatively easy for me to travel the 80km to the store where I ordered it and get it replaced. After that it becomes very hard
