egrossman Posted December 6, 2021 Share #1 Posted December 6, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I absolutely love this lens that I acquired a few months ago, but the hood not so much. Are there alternative Leica metal vented hoods that will work with this lens? I'm not asking about third party hoods. Thanks. Erik

That might help by eliminating a few(?) options. Obviously as the 35mm Summilux v2 (can we assume you are talking about a v2?) doesn't have a filter-thread that fact will narrow down your choices immensely and if you don't get along with a clip-on style of hood then, AFAIK, things are going to get rather difficult... a.noctilux Posted December 6, 2021 Share #3 Posted December 6, 2021 Which one do you use ? Pre FLE is asph. first version, I think. Erik, If you have the 12589, this is the right Leica one for this lens. No other hood ( Leica brand ).

Well, if it's an ASPH but pre-FLE then ignore my earlier post! Don't you just love abbreviations and nick-names?............ Philip.

Philip. Hello Philip Let me get out of the way that I was spoilt by the hood of the FLE. There are 2 things: I don't like the ergonomics in terms of attaching it to the lens (rotating the ring to lock into place) and I don't like that it's plastic. I never noticed the lack of threads so I guess it would have to be a clip-on hood which limits my options. Erik

Erik Hello, Erik, and apologies for my talking about the pre-ASPH and not the pre-FLE. Happily Arnaud is far sharper on the uptake than I am and has been able to offer help!
