I got my M9 skin changed using the leather customisation programme at my local Leica Customer Care centre. I think the result looks great, with a matching 120 cm strap. So now I've a poor man's edition of the Hermès which I could only dream of but unattainable. 😂

I've told this anecdote before: My M9 looks like that, and I carried it at the introduction of the Hermes. Dr.  Kaufmann saw it around my neck just before his introduction speech and froze... before he realized that my camera had a normal top plate. ;)

Are you referring to the M9-P Hermes? IIRC that one is in ocre-colored calf skin. This customised leather is actually orange. Unless you are referring to the M7.

Looks amazing!! When I bought mine with the a-la-carte program, I never saw that Hermes leather color, otherwise I would pick it! I went for a Taupé gray/brown instead.

@bernstein1234, your M9 looks great!

I have to confess that when it was Released, the Hermes M7 was not my cup of tea - but over the years, I have grown to like it, along with some of the a la carte M cameras that are no longer available.  I suspect that I will always gravitate to black Leicas, or at most, black and chrome M  cameras.

At the other end of the spectrum, IMHO the People’s Republic of China 60 years commemorative edition gold & red MP and the Lenny Kravitz snakeskin ‘Drifter’ M Monochrom kit have stalemated each other for the title of most hideously disfigured M cameras ever.

IMO amongst the digital Ms I've shot thus far (except for M8 which I have not owned before), the M9-P is the easiest to produce film-looking images. For my M10 / P / R, I'll have to put in more effort to produce similar outputs.

I will drown in sorrow if my M9-P breaks down one day without replacement parts.

Some of my favourite landscape photos:
