Thank you for your valued comment Stuart. You could be right, but I had no choice. I was shooting an M10 hand held at 800iso and 1/90th, f1.4 on Summilux @1.4 lens. You see my limits! I could have pumped up the iso a bit to allow stopping down, but this (one of my favourite haunts) location often demands I shoot very spontaneously to avoid 'disturbance' of other patrons. In this case, my settings were pre-set (habit) driven. OTOH, I could imagine that the OOF foreground drives the eye to the other content of the image. I can justify anything, retrospectively.
