We’re going to visit Philadelphia for a long weekend next week so recommendations for a Cheese Steak location appreciated (not our sort of thing but I guess we have to try!)

We are doing the “other half” of the Whitney NYC / Philadelphia Museum of Art Jasper Johns retrospective and then visiting Independence Hall, so as the likely only Brits (due to the travel ban) we can be gently teased - like in Boston + DC - while checking out what people over here somehow consider to be “old stuff”...😉

We’re staying at Logan Square and have dinners at Parc in Rittenhouse, and Fork (forget where). Any other recommendations gladly accepted...

Philadelphia's historic district is filled with America's historic buildings  .

Yes, Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell . . . in close proximity.  I'd sign up for a walking tour of the historic district, which might last 1-2 hours.  Ben Franklin's grave, Betsy Ross' home, Elfreth's Alley, all within walking distance of each other.  The City Hall is a grand building and as I'd mentioned, try to make it to the Reading Terminal (downtown), for some breakfast/lunch, doughnuts, and some food markets. 

You might consider a dinner reservation at Tulula's Garden for dinner, as well as the restaurant recommended by Stuny (several posts earlier).

Pat's Cheesesteak was renowned for iconic cheese steak subs. Haven't been there in quite some time, but Philadelphia is famous for its cheesesteak stubs so make certain to enjoy  one. (Load it up with everything!)

The Philadelphia Art Museum's steps were also the scene in "Rocky" (Sylvester Stallone movies).

On Walnut Street, very near Rittenhouse Square is Vernick's (Vernick Food & Drink (vernickphilly.com)), an excellent, unpretentious restaurant.  If you're at all  into cars, the Simeone Museum (Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum | Ranked #1 in the world. (simeonemuseum.org)) is one of the best.  The Philadelphia Museum of Art is at one end of Benjamin Franklin Parkway, on which you'll find many other fine museums, such as the Barnes (Barnes Foundation | Homepage) and the Rodin (Rodin Museum).  Then, just walking the streets you'll find over 4,000 street art murals.  As I suggested to Rob, you might want to go into our site and look at the 8 Philadelphia photo galleries we have there (Photo Galleries > North America).
