Dependent on the number of changes made that would be a pain. Would be something I would request to be fixed in firmware if possible. If Pixii could read the coding on lenses that would be great.

The other problem is that most MATE lenses are not coded.

To make the frame lines for a MATE or WATE automatically selected as in the M series cameras requires the mechanism in the lens mount that detects lens focal length for frame line selection.

Pixii does not have either the frame line detector hardware ... that makes auto selection impossible. Engineering that mechanism is probably one of the more expensive things to do for an M-mount body, it's a integrated part of the viewfinder mechanism.

If they had that, and they had a lens code reader/decoder, they could run for automated lens profile selection too. ;) These are unlikely things unless they obtain a working agreement (and distribution license) from Leica for the lens profiles too...

Not likely, I just am ultra curious about Pixii.

Has anyone found a 21mm lens that meets these criteria?

1) Doesn't have color shift on the Pixii
2) Doesn't block the rangefinder window

The 21mm f/3.4 Super-Elmar seemed the most likely candidate a while ago.

So the photographs you are posting have not been shot on a Leica camera and the lens you used on that non-Leica camera was not a Leica lens?

Why are you posting these images on a Leica Forum?

This is literally the Pixii thread on this forum.

Despite not being a Leica camera or lens, these photos are still relevant to the thread they were posted in.

The LUF has rules that some colleagues here seem to have forgotten.

Quote

Prerequisite for placing a photo is that it has been made with Leica equipment and/or has a strong relationship to a Leica subject. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes the use of Leica lenses on third party bodies, Leica lenses on Leica partner cameras (e.g. Panasonic) and the use of third party lenses on Leica bodies. In general, photographs taken without the use of Leica equipment are not permitted.

Would such an exclusion also exclude, for example, a Konica Hexar with a Hexanon lens?  In other words, if one is working within the M-mount system, why not post to the LUF, much like all the posts discussing the L-mount system?

You can post those in the "I Like Film" thread, but not elsewhere in the image forums.. Please refer to the thread in the "About the  Leica Forum" subforum.
L-mount is a formal, Leica-led association, which makes it part of the Leica family. Therefore we have a dedicated subforum too.

The photographs under discussion in this thread have been deleted.

So if I understand correctly on this Leica forum, you can open a topic about Pixii, talk about Pixii and regularly say bad things about it without ever having tried it, but you can't post pictures of Pixii, that's what respecting the rules is all about. ?

No; you are not understanding the rules correctly. You are allowed to show photographs taken with the Pixii in the forum but only if the lens used was made by Leica.

Yes that much was obvious from the outset as the Pixii has M-Mount, it figures that one must use a Leica lens, in order to be correct to post an image - as this is a Leica forum! That is so obvious as to not need further clarification for me, it is just common sense.

Your photographs were out of order in two ways. Photographs posted in this forum must be Leica (or L-mount) related and photographs for display should be posted in the appropriate image thread. In the technical forums you can only post a few  images -and not a whole series- that illustrate a technical point. The technical forums are not meant for holiday shots. The image threads are clearly marked as such

It's pretty obvious to me that anything which isn't a Leica camera with a Leica lens isn't entirely welcome on this forum, given the brobdingnagian scale of the various rules and technicalities associated with posting photographs, never mind the disparaging remarks posted about the Pixii cameras.

I'd suggest that Pixii enthusiasts and users should move their discussion to the Rangefinder Forum where there is a healthy audience and enjoyment of PIxii cameras and ideas, even a whole subforum dedicated to it (see https://www.rangefinderforum.com/node/122). And RFF enjoys a more diverse discussion of variously branded M-mount lenses on a variety of camera body brands and types as well.

With the greatest of respect, ramarren, I'm not sure that's quite fair. As an example; in the 'Leica M Lens' subforum alone there are, in the first few pages, a number of threads dedicated to no fewer than six non-Leica lens-manufacturers - whose current offerings it should be borne in mind are in effect sold in direct competition with Leica - these being (in no particular order) TTArtisan, 7Artisan, LightLensLab, Voigtlander, Zeiss and MS Optical and it seems that the majority of these makers have a number of threads dedicated to their products

Other manufacturers whose lenses have been featured on a regular basis in other places include the likes of Alpa, Canon, Minolta, Nikon, Pentax, Konica and, of course, numerous makers from the Former Soviet Union.

Pretty much all of these threads are very popular with forumites. Two of the Voigtlander threads, for instance, run to 10 or more pages and the 28mm f5.6 TTArtisan thread presently numbers 19 pages and counting.

There are many places to post images shot using Leica lenses with 3rd party bodies and also images captured with 3rd party lenses on Leica bodies. If loloboubou were to post images shot with the 28mm f2 MS Optics Apoqualia mounted on an M body I'm sure people would be interested to see the results.

Speaking for myself I've been following the Pixii story with interest but this whole website is run under the auspices of Leica; it is THEIR forum and THEY set the rules. I can fully appreciate why posting images which were shot using non-Leica lenses on non-Leica cameras is forbidden.

Posts which are written simply to denigrate equipment, of course, is a different matter entirely.

Philip.

RFF is certainly a good place for Pixii but i hardly see why Pixii owners could not do the little effort of complying with the rules of this forum. Doing LUF members the courtesy of using a Leica lens would not do any harm to their favorite camera.
