andybarton Posted September 24, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is a millennium project that linked the Lancaster Canal with the tidal River Ribble, near Preston, via a small stream. The stream, Savick Brook, was deepened and widened (a bit) to provide a link between the Lancaster Canal and the rest of the network for the first time ever. There are dozens of YouTube videos which show what the experience of making this journey is like. This is the work of art that adorns the top lock of the staircase that raises the boats from the brook to the canal - all a bit bonkers really. Welcome, dear visitor! fotografr Posted September 25, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2021 The canal project is certainly interesting but the artwork looks a bit out of place there. Typical of public art in many locales.
andybarton Posted September 25, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted September 25, 2021 Yes. This was a “celebration of the millennium” project. Like the Dome in London. The link to the network is really good, though. The best millennium project I’ve seen is the Falkirk Wheel

Your photos of it are excellent.
