The colors are great in these Portra 800 shots-- the top image especially, as well as the later post of the laundromat. Probably my favorite film stock example in this thread so far. Thank you for posting these. I have a few rolls of Portra 800 in my freezer that I'm now inspired to thaw and shoot.

Now the Cinestill 800 is much more to my liking than without film edges! This presentation seems to shuffle the sometimes too greenish/cyanish cast under the mat

True @Steven.  2 great options there IMO - love the portra 800 tones, and the 500T is much more true to life isn't it .  They would be my picks.

Although I seem to remember though that your lab does a white balance change in post though and that most 500T would come out similar to 800 cinestill colouring.    Is that correct or did I get something mixed up ?

look great btw  !   I prefer Portra 160 over 400 for daytime and you have reminded me I love 800 too .

Yes, I think they do a correction. At least in daylight when used with no filter to compensate. The advantage of 500T is that it has a remjet layer that avoid the light halos of cinestill. The advantage of cinestill is that imo it’s the one that pushed the best. I don’t like pushing Portra. It gets too contrasted. But cinestill gives enjoyable results when pushed one stop.

as for 500T, it might look too close to reality for me. I think that Portra 800 gives more moody scenes. And the extra iso is a plus too.

so Portra might become my go to film stock. It’s also by far my favorite in daylight, in any scenario. I usually prefer 160 over 400, but I’m forcing myself to shoot more and more 400 for extra versatility. 160 can be very limiting, even in daylight when stepping indoor occasionally.
