Thanks for everything you’ve shared so far.
I’ve been experimenting a little myself this week. Here’s what I tried:

Ilford 3200, rated and developed at box speed: too grainy and too dark for my taste.
Ilford 3200, rated at 1600 and developed at 3200: much better, but still very grainy.
Portra 400, rated at 1600, developed at 800. Meh, didn’t’ look that good.
Portra 400, rated at 1600 and developed at 1600: a bit better than above, but the grain becomes a bit too nasty, the images are very contrasted and the blacks are not pretty yo my eye.
Portra 800 rated and developed at 1600: same as above. Plus colours shift too much and become not interesting to me.
Portra 800 rated at 1600 and developed at box speed: surprisingly ok. What I liked the most about that roll is that I treated it as an Auto ISO roll! At night, I rated it at 1600 to get fast ish shutter speeds. At dawn and sunrise, shot it at 800, in the bright day light, I rated it at 400 to get soft pastel colours. It developed it at 800 and all the shots where usable. Pretty sweet.

that being said, my M10R gets me suchhhhhhhhh nicer images at night. Film beats my M10 only in the day, so im still struggling to take my mp out im low light. If I must do it though, for now, Ilford 3200 seems like the most forgiving option.

this weekend, im trying to push  vision 3 500T. Im told by my lab that it can handle +3

The developer has a very big impact on the final look.

Did you consider medium format? Delta 3200 is truly beautiful in 6x6!

Just bought a mamiya 6 and a couple rolls of delta 3200.
Haven’t Tried it yet, as I’m worried about shutter speeds, considering that my faster lens if an f3.5. If I rate the film at 1600, I’m going to have to shoot around 1/15th or 1/8 of a second.

Have fun, the mamiya 6 seems to be a fantastic camera! I tried a 7 that I regret selling. You can try and push more on medium format.
