I am very curious about this lens. Its physical look, after so many years, is starting to look so good. Ages like fine wine. Simple, elegant, extremely understated. A clear modern departure from the old design, yet classical itself,

In the end,  it’s very 70’s, and I like that a lot. Just as I Love The M5, such an elegant, german, understated and well-bred.

I am interested in its rendition as a lens. Its signature. Reports talk about “more contrast, less resolution”. Might it be possible that it’s just what I am after? More contrast for that initial “wow” punch factor and less sharpness, which corresponds to the 70’s era, just like ALL those pictures I used to LOVE.

Look at Jeanloup Sieff’s work, for example. Totally 70’s, great contrast, steep falloff from highlights to shadows, excellent resolution, thick blacks.

Yes, all summicrons are great. But is this one possibly the magical black sheep?

Any samples from this forum’ users?
Side by side comparison Versus the Version 4?

I don't have that much variety yet because I haven't had it long , but it's a really free and easy lens with a nice character - I always seem to get something I like :D

Nice article .  There are a few out there mentioning the black sheep v3 as their fave .

Does anyone own the v3 aswell as Summilux Pre-ASPH ?    My original plan was to buy both the v3 and the pre-ASPH Lux (E46) ... pairing with my 35mm Lux Pre-ASPH.   However , since owning the v3, IMO it seems to pair with my 35mm pre really well .  It's also light and convenient .

But would be interested to hear if anyone else has both / has had both this and the pre-asph lux.  Maybe I am missing out as I hear that's quite a special lens

sorry for the spam in this post, I just found this one from the v3 and thought it made a good example of why I like this paired with my lux 35mm pre-asph .

I've only had a few outings with it but very happy.
