Hi everyone, I am a collector and have some interests in the non-Leica screw mount lenses. Recently I have this LTM Schneider Xenon 50/2 which I could not find enough useful information on the internet. From SN we can tell that it was manufactured between 1952-1954. Another collector I know told me this lens is a kind of rare collector's item and he has seen one mounted on a Italian LTM camera. Does anyone know anything about this lens? Thanks in advance.

and I have looked recently at this one

The seller of this one states "Front filter ring is 30mm Lens head mounted into a Leica register lens mount , Fitted by experienced, well regarded, British camera engineer"

Could Charlie Brown777"s also be fitted in, say,  a LTM Summicron mount?

John

From the serial number, it  looks like your lens comes from  the rare batch of 1955 australian Nicca 5 "Snider" cameras !

Cheers, JM.

Thanks, this is definitely the 100% correct answer to my question... So I got it from a Leica rangerfinder instead of Snider 35. I am interested in the book you are reading, could you let me know the title of it? I probably will buy one for myself. Also, do you know what is the last time a Snider 35 showed up? Thanks.

I only have this image from the article or chapter of a book.

From internet, it looks like the last auction mentioning a Snider 35 with Xenon was on 2008.

Hi, JM.

I also have another lens that need more info:

I could not find any other similar CZJ Tessar design on LTM, although I have noticed that an E Krauss recently sold on eBay looks very alike. Could you provide me with some infomation about this one? Thanks!

Thank You anyway, especially for the info about the Schneider.

Would you know if a Leica  1a with its fixed 5cm Elmar can be standardized nowadays and who still offers this service ?!

Best

JM

Probably some of the specialized labs (you can find them in the Forum) - and even some Forum member like Jerzy can do such a job... but is it worth ? A Leica 1 with fixed Elmar, though not rare, is a collectible in original conditions... an historical item of great importance in the history of photo equipment : why modifying it today ?
