Thank you all for your contributions to the thread.  I apologise if I have not made it clear what August's Barnack's Monthly topic "Silhouette" is about so I'll reiterate what I wrote in the opening post and add a little more clarification: "The definition of a silhouette for this thread is: the outline of someone or something filled-in with a solid colour against a brighter background."

This means that the solid colour of the object or person in silhouette should contain no detail and often the brighter background will be provided by a light source towards the viewer.  A shadow isn't a silhouette it's a shadow.

Again, my apologies for not fully explaining originally and the vast majority of members have understood.   Thank you to those who have PM'ed me about those pictures that they think are not silhouettes but this is really not necessary.

Please note that what I've written above is not aimed at any member or members in particular and is, I hope, for the benefit for everyone.
