As soon as I saw the subject for this Challenge I knew what I would take. A picture I have taken many times in the past, with many different cameras. The connectedness is the mooring ropes connecting my boat to the quay heading and the water, feeling connected to the water and all that goes with it.

Leica 1f with 105mm Mountain Elmar, 100th at f18, manual focus without rangefinder, Ilford FP4 in Rodinal. Copy of a darkroom print.

It took me a while to come up with something unique fitting the topic "connectedness" - it was challenging, main purpose of this topic! The photo was taken with Leica IIIc and Leica 50/2 Summitar LTM @ f/11 with Ilford FP4+ 125 film. The film was developed in Rodinal (1:50), and the negative scanned with Plustek 8200 Ai and SilverFast8.

High Five!

Leica 111f with Canon Serenar 35/2.8 lens.

Film was HP5+ exposed @ 800iso & dev in Xtol, 1:2 for 14min.

I was forced to "re-shoot" my challenge shots at the last moment because of original film not advancing. 😂

I set out to regain some of my original shots, but came across these lads shooting old Canon film cameras. They noticed my 111f and we struck up a conversation about film etc. I got quite a few shots for my entry, but I felt the spontaneity and enthusiasm of these guys really demonstrated Conectedness.

If we have an 'outtakes' thread I will post some of my alternative shots, just for fun.

Dear Claus

Thank you for your interest in this challenge and your lovely photograph which epitomizes the theme perfectly. However I must point out that while any lens is allowed to take your photograph with only Leica Thread Mount cameras are allowed ie one designed by Barnack himself, hence the title of the challenge. The photograph will therefore not be considered during the voting.

Sorry about that.

Kind regards

Charles

My initial ideas did not appeal with one exception which I will share when we set up the "out takes" thread. This is the joining of two tram lines in Den Haag ...

I am very sorry, but I can't quit my photo #6.

Claus

Claus, I can delete your image but it is so good for the subject that I am inclined to leave it on display. It just won't be included in the judging unfortunately. If you have a LTM  camera, or access to one, please consider joining the competition that will recur towards the end of the year.

Hi there, have you received your film back yet? Hope so and you can join the fun.

The good news is that yes, I got my film back. The bad news is that the shutter did not cap on two frames which were intended to speak for the concept. I'm at a loss of what to do. Currently looking at the rest of my negatives, but I will probably just have to post to the B-sides thread.

EDIT - Here is the negative in question. There were two cars facing each other, connected by cables in the middle of a busy street with one gentleman helping the other driver start his/her car.

I know we are not supposed to comment on the pictures at this stage, but there is a “connectedness” between the correctly exposed area and the overexposed film connected to it, light and dark, the essentials of photography.

Frankly, I can still see 'connectedness' in the remnants of your image. Personally, I would let it stand, albeit somewhat different from your original intention.
