Back in 1970's the Stadtpark in Vienna used to have signs up forbidding people to walk on the grass. That was a toughy being there as a child.

I also know these small signs from my childhood. But every winter we ran our toboggans over them until the park administration was tired of renewing them.

Sad - dogs can't go to this park. Love to meet the Board who voted on this cluster ....

This is a small park, mostly grassy with tall, older trees, offering shade and respite from crowds on the Island of Coronado.

The island  is home to the Hotel Del Coronado made famous by the movie Some Like It Hot and therefore a BIG (read also as busy) tourist spot for those visiting San Diego, CA. Sadly, there are a number of similar signs are posted throughout the city because many folk seem oblivious when it comes to common courtesy (though I do do disagree about the dog ban yet too many folks failed to clean up after their pet or leash them).

The island is also home to the U.S. Navy's North Island naval base where carriers and other craft of the Pacific Fleet in addition to the indoctrination and training grounds for their SEAL's recruits/volunteers. Historically, it where naval aviation was first successfully tested and found to be a viable weapon. Lastly, it is the home for many U.S. Navy retirees and former Naval Aviators.

We had an employee who had an accident at work while visiting older residents. Crossing the grass between the sheltered housing units she tripped over the sign that said “do not walk on the grass”.
