heavy vignetting wide-open, did you notice it or get bothered by it?

It is noticeable indeed.

i have found that coding the lens as Noctilux 1.2 helps straight out of camera!

I never found the need to correct for it any further.

That's good to know! But honestly now i used it, it's super easy to correct in LR with the lens profile. Might be a bigger problem on film tho

Until six months ago, I had the idea to sell my 50/2 Summicron v5 and get a brand new Nokton 50/1.2 v3 plus some cash. The idea is to use the 50 as my short telephoto lens, to use wide open or so (1.2 - 1.4 - 2)... 35 is my normal. 21 my WA, 50 my tele. That's it.

Then I heard and read here and there about the 50/1.5 II and added it to the wishlist. Now I'm between the two.

  • Thumbs up for the Nokton 1.5 for 43mm thread (same as my 35/1.4 II MC and the 2.8/35 ZM), size, and weight.
  • Thumbs up for the 1.2 for the "maybe" better IQ at 1.4... And the intriguing focus ring never tried one like that.

I don't care about weight and size cause I don't use 50FL so often. Also, for travel, I guess it's not excessively weight. But maybe it worth it.

If I say Nokton 1.5 II at 1.5  - and -  Nokton 1.2 III at 1.4 ... What can you tell me about?

Finally got it.

This lens is fantastic.

In my case, it's going to be my 50 lens of choice (and I've tried them all).

And the size is a match made in heaven for an M body.

Leica M3, Voigtländer 50mm Nokton f/1.5 II, Kodak Tri-X 400, and Plustek 8200i.

Have you used the Voigtlander 2/50mm APO? Thoughts between the two? Sorry if you have already answered this question. I am curious if you prefer the Nokton ii because of the larger aperture over the CV APO 50.

No need to apologize!  Living in Canada where I need the lens to suck up every bit of stray light during the long, gloomy winter months, I need a large aperture lens.

Thank you for the response. I have too many lenses, like most here I assume, and it doesn't stop me from buying more. I just picked up the 2/50mm APO by Voigtlander and it is an amazing lens. I am trying not to get the 1.5/50mm II but I am losing the battle. So many lenses to try out and experiment with. I think the 1.5/50 ii would be a great addition to my M6.

Curious to hear your thoughts and comparisons once you have tested both!
