hey fellows, which lens hood do you use the Nokton 1.5 II with? Anyone using or preferring square (or rectangular, not sure how to call it 🤔) lens hoods? Not sure if the differences are just aesthetics or functional. I always used whatever I had, w/o questioning. But maybe it's time now to know more about it 😁 Thank you.

The official Voigtlander one. Although the official Zeiss one for the 35/2.8 + 50/2 fits perfectly too.

I just use a cheap but surprisingly well made generic vented metal hood from eBay, $10. I don’t use it often.

It also fits my 35mm c-biogon & 35mm Nokton classic. 🙂

I've always liked that type of hood best.  Especially the one on the v1 35 Summicron ASPH.  Sweet little set-up right there.  The new screw-on hoods really suck, IMHO.  And that exposed dual front thread set-up, that's a ride on the fail-train.  I've seen a good number for sale with a dented or 'smudged' thread ring, and a notation that it "still takes filters", but they're hard to get on.

Boy, I'm spicy tonight.  Look out!

Here are a few unremarkable snaps with it on my M9.  It’s the perfect lens for me - compact and renders beautifully.

Hardly unremarkable. On the contrary, I find them quite beautiful. Image quality is just exceptional.

Missed focus but I still like it.

The VM50-1.5ii is my only lens and the M-D is my first Leica and I am enjoying it immensley so far. f2.8 is a sweet spot for sharpness and OOFA but I like having the 1.5 on tap if I want dreamy ... At first the M-D thought it was a 21mm lens and the EXIFs were way out, then I played with a marker pen but got no coding recognition at all and now it is showing 'Lens Model: Not Selected' and is actually quite accurate on the f stop data.

I tried a second hand 'lux in the store where I bought the Voigt (Red Dot in London) but found it rather long and front-heavy, with rather-too-loose focus and aperture ring haptics. The compactness of the VM swayed it in the end.

BTW, depite getting top marks in 'O' Level German many years ago, I, like many people had not come across the word 'Voigt' before and had been saying it wrong.

English speakers should pronounce it 'Folked-lender' apparently:

Anyone here have the Sonnar 50mm f1.5 zm? They similar in size but renders very differently. I'd love to see the good comparison between the two!

I haven't - I've put the Nokton head-to-head with the 50mm Planar, but not the Sonnar. I'm interested. I haven't tried the Sonnar TBH because the focus shift issues scare me away.
