pau.cod Posted June 5, 2021 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all! New here, I am considering saving up for a q2 monochrom, but this is bugging me... can one assign the zoom function (for the purpuses of focusing) to a customizable button? I would like to be able to manually focus, but not have it always zoom in automatically when I turn the focus ring. I use manual lenses or just like to focus manually with my current camera, and sometimes you don’t want it to zoom in and sometimes you do... So I was hoping one can assign this function to one of the customizable buttons on the Q2 thank you all for your help!

ianforber Posted June 6, 2021 Share #3 Posted June 6, 2021 I don’t think it’s possible to assign it to a button like you describe - you can use the centre d-pad button to toggle between 3x and 6x but that’s only once you have enabled zooming in the first place. I haven’t tried this, but I suppose you could create two user profiles, one with zoom enabled, one without and just toggle between the two. A bit clunky though and not something you’d easily be able to do on the fly

p-arrow Posted July 8, 2021 Share #6 Posted July 8, 2021 Yes you can! You can map ‘magnification’ to the Fn button, which makes it work exactly as you want. Press it to engage the magnification, press again or half press the shutter to disengage. I just set mine ip this way to see how I like it. I find the auto zoom annoying too, but having the option is nice… 1

Ba Erv Posted August 23, 2021 Share #9 Posted August 23, 2021 I have mapped the center button on the top wheel to magnify. Pretty intuitive to use for me.

Plus having added the "Focus Assist" item to the "Favorites" menu - because in "very, very slow shooting" situations I actually do enjoy the "Auto Magnification" feature.
