Hi,

I found a 50mm f1.4 summilux ASPH to a decent price, but before buying I'd like to clarify a couple of things:

- the last version  of this lens, the current one,  is ASPH and FLE, correct?

- the version I have found has serial number 417****, however I do not see this serial number reported on this page http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/50mm_f/1.4_ASPH_Summilux-M

Should I be worried?

Cheers.

Yes. See below. I would not worry about Serial numbers. My copy is from 2004, not 2005.

Yes it is an FLE lens and the wiki hasn’t been updated in some time. Not to worry.

Check the focus action, which can be a bit ‘sticky’ in some samples.  Leica couldn’t fix mine, but DAG made it smooth. I would buy from a reputable dealer with warranty and return policy.  I prefer the 50 Summilux M ASPH over the 50 APO M Summicron, which I also owned for 6 months.  But that’s just personal preference; both are superb.
