stunsworth Posted August 13, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was just going to drive through the town yesterday, but the light looked so good, especially with the deeply overcast hills in the distance that I decided to stop and take a few frames - or whatever we call them in these digital days. I _do_ like bright foregrounds with dark skies, and this presented itself to me without requiring any Photoshop work. Canon 5D, 50mm Summicron. andybarton Posted August 13, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 13, 2006 Sweet. You're spending a lot of time in Wales at the moment. Are you moving?
elansprint72 Posted August 13, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 13, 2006 Steve, The Victorian painters flocked to this place because of the magical light, which you have captured perfectly, nice one. Pete.

lambroving Posted August 13, 2006 Share #8 Posted August 13, 2006 Andy, Just no light like that here..., never, ever...
andybarton Posted August 13, 2006 Share #9 Posted August 13, 2006 The sun always shines on the righteous. (And the Welsh, in this case ) I assume that you are too far south and not close enough to the sea? Being East Coast, won't help either no doubt. (Climateology wasn't one of my strong points...) stunsworth Posted August 13, 2006 Author Share #10 Posted August 13, 2006 William, I'm not so sure that the Welsh would be too happy by having their light described as cheating on the part of the English :-) The red boat is what attracted me to the composition, it would be much weaker without it IMHO. lambroving Posted August 13, 2006 Share #11 Posted August 13, 2006 WHEN it shines..., which is the reason the English have little need of baseball caps! Steve, No kidding. Ask any National Geographic photographer. They were always accused of have a red jacket and a red canoe in their kit. Similar light in Shrewsbury too, if the truth be told... andybarton Posted August 13, 2006 Share #12 Posted August 13, 2006 A real Englishman wouldn't be seen dead in a baseball cap. Deer-stalker - yes.

stunsworth Posted August 13, 2006 Author Share #15 Posted August 13, 2006 Hi, the other side of the estuary was very dark due to heavy cloud cover that side of the river.
harmsr Posted August 14, 2006 Share #16 Posted August 14, 2006 Steve, I love the shot, and agree that the red boat really makes it. Best, Ray
