Raadoo,

That is the best Moon shot I have ever seen on the net! Wonderful!

Rick

You might not want to visit the CloudyNights forum, then! 😂 Thank you for the kind words, Rick! It was my first time trying out the video stacking route and I'm quite pleased.

I also did a timelapse at the full 24MP of the CL, trying to gauge if video stacking yields better results than timelapse. Will report here soon, of course.

Gear: CL + Novoflex LET/NIK + Sigma 1401 + Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary @ 600mm + Cokin Light Pollution Filter, sat on an untracked Peak Design Carbon Tripod

Process: 4K/30fps > PIPP > Autostakkert > Registax > Photoshop

Amazing! Thanks for sharing.

Reporting back on timelapse vs video, video wins by a mile. So much so that it's not even worth posting here.

Between the crop that the CL applies to 4K video and the amount of data captured in video (497 frames) vs timelapse (37 frames) it should be pretty logical why the video route is the best way to go for this kind of application. What surprised me was just how clean the CL's video actually is, even though it's a compressed format. Definitely opens up avenues for exploration (for me) in terms of stacking.
