Start by shooting the birds at eye level like Tritentrue does. It can’t be that hard.

The CL works well for me, both with native lenses and R-mount lenses, such as the 80-200mm f/4 R, with which the photo below was shot.

Shrike, appears to be an immature Tiger Shrike, as it was far too trusting for its own good . . .

Great picture, so appropriate to be B and W. Brings back memories of when they were all steam, showing my age.

The view from my office window. Some detail was lost scaling this down for presentation in this forum, but I am rather pleased with this camera's output nonetheless.
