wolan Posted April 17, 2021 Share #1 Posted April 17, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, no matter how I set the option "Exposure simulation" in the menu, the exposure is simulated in LV or EVF only when I half-press the shutter What to do to get the camera permanently simulating the exposure as one would expect? Thanks
Advertisement Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Hi wolan, Take a look here Leica M Monochrom Typ 246: exposure simulation permanent not working. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
RMF Posted April 17, 2021 Share #2 Posted April 17, 2021 (edited) Just took a look at mine and all I need to do is set it to "Permanent" in Menu/exposure simulation. I'm on firmware 1.1.0.0 Edited April 17, 2021 by RMF

Grimmlord Blakk Posted May 2, 2021 Share #4 Posted May 2, 2021 I have the same issue. Latest firmware. Put it into permanent and had no effect. Basically, whether I’m in half pressed or permanent it performs the same. Looks like nobody on here knows what’s going on with this issue
a.noctilux Posted May 2, 2021 Share #5 Posted May 2, 2021 I don't see this as "issues". I don't even understand what you two are searching (for better picture taking from M246 meaning ONLY used from OVF ... for me ). Why searching/looking to complicate the picture taking process ? minus6 (tuan) Posted February 21, 2022 Share #6 Posted February 21, 2022 I do not use LV light metering mode, however people expect any feature released with the camera to work, if not then Leica should fix it or remove it. you are quite arrogant, a.noctilux
wolan Posted February 22, 2022 Author Share #7 Posted February 22, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, just for the records. Leica answer that the exposure simulation does not work when Auto-ISO is active. That was the problem. Cheers.

I seem to recall seeing that in an M manual, but it may have been the M10M, good catch @wolan . @minus6 (tuan), I don’t think @a.noctilux was being arrogant, I think the idea of the M has always been simplify, and it’s a reasonable comment. If we are used to one simulation, then do we need another or are we just trying to figure out what Leica did with the firmware? There are many ‘frills’ in the cameras that I don’t use because it adds too much complexity to my photography. But I do also agree with you, that sometimes Leica introduces a firmware addition and does not seem to explain it well enough to understand what it is really doing. I’m sure that has to do with translating to so many languages. Glad this issue now makes sense!
