How Can I tell which is the NEW Battery

Recommended Posts

Depending on how recent your purchase of the camera and the original battery, does it matter which is the 'new' one and which the 'old' one?  I got a second battery soon after buying my SL2 and honestly had not thought that knowing which was which would make any difference.

Anyone explain whether it is important to know, please?

What you can do however, is mark them (1,2 and 3 in my case) to cycle them in the same order: when I drain #1, then I insert #2 and #3 is next on the line while #2 recharges...

This is useful to cycle them at a constant rate. Otherwise you have a chance your batteries follow the nature's greatest mystery: the 20/80% rule: one will go out 80% more than the other... and you get inequal performances between them eventually.

More on the 80/20 law.
