ktmrider2 Posted February 27, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 27, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I had a 25 Zeiss stolen about 2.5 months ago and am looking for another lens wider then a 35 which is presently my widest M focal length. Now, I only used the 25 once in three years so I don't miss it that much. I am looking at either the 28 or something really wide. Photography is not my highest priority so spending thousands for new Leica optics does not really work for me but I would not mind a used lens. Am looking for suggestions. Do you think 28 is too close to 35? Have not used a 28 on my Leica in years but found it a useful focal length on my Fuji X70 a few years ago for traveling. I may skip anything in the 20-30mm focal lengths and go to a ultra wide like a 15. Edited February 27, 2021 by ktmrider2
Advertisement Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Hi ktmrider2, Take a look here Suggested 28 or 21?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
SiggiGun Posted February 28, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 28, 2021 My personal expérience: If I put a second lens in my bag (to complete the 35mm), It take the 24mm or 21. If I take only 1, more and more It is the 28mm f2.0. If I need speed. I take the 35 f1.4. Otherwise It is a question of the number of lenses in the bag, of light and of the target (landscape,...). 21 + 28 + 50 24 + 50 24 + 35 28 + 50 35 + 75 /
Gobert Posted February 28, 2021 Share #3 Posted February 28, 2021 This is an impossible question. 21 and 28 are two different worlds.
a.noctilux Posted February 28, 2021 Share #4 Posted February 28, 2021 My choice would be if I want to use external viewfinder (or EVF if the camera has) or not. 28mm without ext. VF help and I think that when I use 28mm (which is not too close to 35mm), it can be only lens for the day. Wider than 28mm requires in my use aux finder (or not with some practice I can "guestimate" the field), sweet spot in this is 21mm. Wider than 28mm would need another lens to complement it (35/50/75/etc. ) depending on the day's project.
